About the Avadhuta Gita

The Avadhuta Gita was written by Dattatreya. The word “Avadhuta” refers to one who has renounced all worldly attachments and connections and lives in a state beyond body consciousness. The Avadhuta did not learn from one particular source, but from many teachers or gurus, such as the water, earth, wind, space, moon, sun, sea, and arrow maker.

In this text, Dattatreya makes startling statements, leaving the seeker of Truth to imbibe them and be uplifted from illusion into the blazing light of knowledge.  It is regarded by all sages as one of the greatest treatise on Vedanta representing Advaita or non-dualism.
