Bala Vihar Classes

Spreading the knowledge of Vedanta to Vancouver and beyond

Class Overview

“Children are not vessels to be filled, but lamps to be lit” - Swami Chinmayananda

Bala Vihar is an in-person weekly meeting for children with the sole purpose of learning our precious culture, spiritual wisdom, and related values through stories, games, quizzes, crafts, bhajans, hymns, shlokas, skits, dances, and more.

Bala Vihar inculcates the values of Sanatana Dharma, as taught in scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Epics, and Puranas.

Classes for various age groups are conducted by trained sevaks and sevikas. These dedicated volunteers impart to children the glory of our rich culture, aiming at character formation and reverence for our ancient heritage. Additional activities that help to reinforce the vision of Bala Vihar include community participation, cultural shows, and Gita chanting competitions.

The goal of the Bala Vihar program is to “wake up the sleeping giant” and inspire students to reach their maximum potential. Through a specially designed, age appropriate, and value-based curriculum (one that has been carefully developed by expert Chinmaya Acharyas), a child’s mind can be awakened to the higher and help our children grow into responsible citizens of tomorrow.
